Can you find a meal including 3 sides under $1 nowadays in the USA?
Yep!
Frozen Meals, Frozen Foods, Frozen Ready-To-Eat Foods
Here are some frozen meals I discovered recently. I think you might be interested in tasting them. They tasted not so bad to me and were not expensive either. Sometimes, you can find a good deal/great deal, cheap price too, “Buy One Get One”.
First, I tried frozen meals from PF Chang’s Home Menu. So far, I ate two of them. They’re alright. At first, I thought they’re Chinese food which is normally served at Chinese restaurants in the USA, so I said Chinese food. However, later on, I said, “wait a minute”, is it “Chicken Teriyaki” Japanese? It sounds like a Japanese food name to me. If it’s a Japanese food name, it is not Chinese food.
First choice is Sweet & Sour Chicken. Yep, the name is already said “sweet” and “sour”, so it’s sweet and sour. It is a new dish as shown on the package with the word, “NEW”. If you don’t like sweet or sour or both, then skip this one. For those eaters who don’t like dark meat, then this one is special for you. It is made with white meat chicken. Inside the package is a bowl of white rice, battered chicken breast, pineapple, bell peppers, onions and sauce. Yeah, it’s marked as 1 hot chili out of 5 chilies.
Second choice is Chicken Teriyaki. Yah, yah, yah, “Chicken Teriyaki”, it is less sweet than “Sweet & Sour Chicken”. The ingredients are almost the same as their “Sweet & Sour Chicken”. The package contains a bowl including white rice, chicken breast, sweet pineapple, onions, scallions, red bell peppers and sauce. Once again, it has one chili hot out of 5 chilies. There is a small logan saying “Made with ALL NATURAL* CHICKEN” on the package.
I forgot to mention that I bought them at the price of $5.59 each but buy one get one free, so it costs only $2.80 each. Also, I don’t get hot at all because I have no problem with eating spicy food.

Next, I tried Banquet’s food. Wow, I did all 6 of the different types from them. Actually, I ate 8 of them. At first, I bought 2 to try, then I came back grabbing all of them which were available at the same price with the “Buy One Get One” deal. I had never thought about reviewing frozen meals. I just walked around the store, and it suddenly popped up in my mind buying them to eat and then and then and then popping up an idea of reviewing them. Anyway, let’s get back to Banquet’s food. I bought 6 different types of meals. I got Backyard BBQ Meal, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Salisbury Steak Meal, Chicken Strips Meal and Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese.
Backyard BBQ Meal is a meal of rib shaped patty which is made with pork and chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet corn and mesquite barbecue sauce. Mashed potatoes are made with real cream as they said. Yep, it is creamy. The net weight of this meal is 10.45 oz or 296g.
Salisbury Steak Meal has a steak, mashed potatoes, cinnamon apple, sweet corn and gravy. Salisbury steak is made with chicken, pork and beef. Mashed potatoes are creamy and are made with real cream as mentioned on the package. The net weight is 11.88 oz or 337g.
Chicken Strips Meal has 3 chicken patties which are breaded from white meat chicken, macaroni and cheese sauce and sweet corn. It is made with 100% natural chicken breast with rib meat as they mention on the package. The net weight is 8.9 oz or 252g.
Sweet & Sour Chicken has 5 sweet & sour breaded white meat chicken nugget patties on a bed of rice. It is made with 100% natural chicken breast with rib meat. The net weight is 9.25 oz or 262g.
Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese has 6 pieces of chicken nugget patties which are breaded from chicken breast with rib meat, macaroni and cheese sauce and chocolate brownie. They said that it is made with 100% natural chicken breast with rib meat. It has a net weight of 7.4 oz or 209g.
Spaghetti & Meatballs has 5 meatballs plus spaghetti and sauce. The meatballs are made with chicken, pork and beef. For the sauce, they said it is “MADE FROM SCRATCH MARINARA SAUCE”. The net weight is 11.88 oz or 337g.
Once again, I bought these frozen meals at the price of $1.99 each with a deal of buy one get one free. All of them tasted not bad. Not only that, it’s great with that price, especially, Salisbury Steak Meal. You can get 3 sides with a steak patty. The portions of Chicken Strip Meals and Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese are worth the price. So far, these 6 frozen foods are great to me including taste, price, portion, food displaying/organizing… At least the way the food is displayed, to me, it’s showing how food is respected, which leads to respecting the eaters. Hopefully, they are still the same after I publish this post.
These frozen foods are reviewed based on normal food knowledge I have, including assuming them to be real food, real meat, not fake meat, not lab created meat… Also, I don’t know these food companies at all including not representing them. I know them through these foods by seeing them at the grocery store’s frozen food section where I live. These food portions are great for small people or people who don’t like eating a lot of food at once. It’s also a great idea for those people who would like to diet or on diet.
